When I first started dating my husband, I quickly learned how close he was to his two younger brothers, Ryan and Kristian. There is a considerable age difference between each brother but they are the closest siblings I know. Each brother has their own “area of expertise”. Omari is the hunter, Ryan the fisherman, and Kristian the lacrosse player. I love their relationships and being a part of their family.

Fast forward to 2012.

Kristian was only 8 years old when I first met him and even in my first memory of him there was a lacrosse stick in his hand. Lacrosse is his life. Ryan, also a lacrosse player, spent so much time with Kristian on and off the field to help shape him into the player he is today. Kristian is now 18 years old and a senior in high school. Tonight he goes to his senior prom and in a few weeks he graduates. It has been amazing to watch him grow from a little boy to a young man. He continues to amaze me on a consistent basis. Last night we found out that he was named a US All American High School Lacrosse Player. I am very proud of him and excited to see how amazing he will do in this next stage of life.

Here are a few shots from the last game we attended while up in NY. Thankfully it was senior night and all the players gave flowers to their moms. My mother in law has done a lot to help foster (and finance) Kristian’s lacrosse obsession. Thankfully it has paid off…in the fall he will be attending Rutgers University, where he received a full scholarship as lacrosse goalie.
